6 and 7 October 2020, Radebeul (Germany)

Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS) will be holding its first international conference on biobased solutions in papermaking and converting in Radebeul near Dresden, Germany, in early October. The aim of the event is to promote scientific exchange on these topics. In addition to biobased additives and auxiliaries, including their production pathways, discussions will also focus on future (market) developments and their impact on paper recycling.

In view of the declared goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, there is also a need for change in the energy-intensive paper industry. There are calls for continuous efficiency improvements in production and logistics, as well as increased recyclability of the industry’s products – up to 100%. A further challenge is that chemical processes, based largely on fossil fuels, are often used to produce or refine modern cardboard and paper products. Biobased solutions need to be found for these processes in order to create a functioning circular economy.
